AN open event is being planned for Wellington Basins next week to encourage people to visit and talk about the nature area with volunteers who help maintain it.

Wellington Basins Volunteer Group, which meets on Tuesday mornings, is putting on the event on Saturday, August 10, from 2 pm to 5 pm.

The group is inviting people to go along for a free cup of tea and to also take with them any photographs of the Basins to be put on display.

A bric-a-brac stall will also be run as part of the occasion, and the photographs will be returned after.

The volunteers help Wellington Town Council with tasks such as hedge trimming, litter picking, and maintaining walkways and fishing platforms.
