THE Taunton Brewhouse Theatre Academy is set to take part in this year’s National Theatre Connections which is an annual nationwide festival championing the talent of young people across the UK.

Every year, Connections commissions 10 new plays for young people to perform, bringing together some of the UK’s most exciting writers with the theatre-makers of tomorrow.

This year, Taunton Brewhouse is participating for a consecutive year with a cast of eleven young people, all of whom are involved in the theatre’s thriving Youth Theatre programme.

The group will be performing No Regrets, written by Gary McNair and directed by Abbie Riddell.

Over the course of five years, playwright Gary McNair spoke to people at all stages and in all walks of life on the subject of regret. This play marks the results of those conversations. A collection of scenes from the silly to the profound, that charts our relationship with the things we should have done but didn’t and the things we shouldn’t have done but did.

No Regrets opens at Taunton Brewhouse on Wednesday, April 2, before moving to the Exeter Northcott for a special NT Connections Festival performance on Monday, April 28.

Commenting on the experience, Director Abbie Riddell said: “We’re thrilled that Taunton Brewhouse is taking part in National Theatre Connections for a second year, and it is such a valuable experience for young people to be part of.

“It’s a joy that we’re able to offer such important opportunities through our Youth Theatre programme, which covers everything from summer schools and workshops to our popular Theatre Academy and Young Ambassadors.

“No Regrets is a play unlike any other we’ve worked on before and encapsulates such a broad range of themes.

“Our performers are having an incredible time bringing the play to life and cannot wait to share it with audiences in Taunton and Exeter.”
