FITZHEAD are hosting their Christmas trail once again, offering visitors a 2.5km festive walk around the village.

Clues must be solved to discover hidden angels along the ‘Ambling Angel Trail’. Starting at the Lych Gate in front of St James’ Church, visitors will travel along the village’s public highway and local footpaths to find the 30 hand-made “ambling angels”.

Both a 2.5km and a shorter 1.8km Christmas trail are available to participate in from Christmas Eve until Sunday, January 5, with ten angels hiding in the churchyard and St James’ Church for those unable to do the full trail.

The trail is free to enter but donations to the Open Door Charity in Taunton are encouraged.

Open Door is a day centre for Taunton’s homeless community, with 30 volunteers working to ensure that people have their basic needs met, from hot meals to a laundry facility. They also offer tailored support plans for individuals to develop life skills, sustain accommodation and access employment.

The Ambling Angel Trail map can be found online at www.fitzhead.com with paper copies also available at the Lych Gate. Visitors are advised to wear wellies or other sturdy footwear as the footpaths can be muddy.
