EXCITEMENT is building at the Wellington Arts Association (WAA) as the cast and crew of Jack and the Beanstalk put the finishing touches on their milestone production.

The show, which runs from January 22 to 26, marks the WAA’s 50th anniversary of pantomime and promises to be a spectacular celebration of creativity, laughter, and local talent.

Rehearsals are now in full swing, and the final costume call has taken place.

A member of the production team said: “Seeing everyone in costume really brings the show to life. The excitement is contagious, and we’re all eager to deliver something truly special for our audience.”

Written in-house and making its debut this January, Jack and the Beanstalk showcases the heart and passion of the WAA. It’s a production designed to entertain all ages, blending the classic tale with fresh humour, captivating music, and a few surprises along the way.

In January 1975, the first Wellington pantomime, Dick Whittington, was staged at the arts centre. Later, in 1979, the production was moved to the town’s beloved Wellesley cinema due to growing interest. Today, the show attracts an audience of nearly 2000 people annually.
