WELLINGTON Hospital League of Friends hopes to boost their funds by hosting an antiques ‘call my bluff’ evening at Wellington Rugby Club on Thursday, March 28, starting 7pm.
Leading the evening will be three professional auctioneers who will be bringing along a selection of articles which they will each take in turn to describe, suggest the function and the likely price at auction. They each come up with something different and it’s down to the audience to decide who is telling the truth.
“Think of The Antiques Road Show’s ‘Basic, Better, Best’, mixed with ‘Would I Lie To You?’ and you have an idea of how this evening will pan out”, said Diane Grabham, Press Officer for the League.
“This is the second time we have held this type of event. The first one was extremely entertaining. The auctioneers try to outdo each other with their amusing descriptions and it’s often the most bizarre or outrageous which is correct.”
Tickets for the event, which cost £10 and include a ploughman’s supper, are available from The Nook and Cranny in High Street.
Money raised by the event will go into league funds to buy items for Wellington Hospital and the district nursing service.
