AFTER nearly ten ‘amazing’ years at Reminiscence Learning, Emma Green is laeaving as manager of the Tonedale-based chairity.

Emma, who is 41 and will continue to live in Wellington, is joining an animal sanctury - and starting a new chapter in her life.

She admits it has been a tough decision to make. She said yesterday: “I joined the charity in July, 2010, initially in a part time administrative role and soon fell in love with the charity and the work that it does. I was delighted to be offered the role of manager, with the opportunity to drive the charity forward and make a real difference to the lives of those affected by dementia.

“I have so many wonderful memories to take with me - from helping organise a Guinness World Record Attempt for the largest gathering of people dressed as scarecrows, to an obstacle race across Goodland Gardens in inflatable duck costumes and more recently an epic one day, all singing, all dancing, Trip Through the Decades event.

“Even more poignant are the inspirational people I have had the pleasure and privilege to work alongside; from Fiona Mahoney, our Chief Executive who has taught me so much, the amazing team that I have shared laughter and tears with, those living with dementia and the wonderful carers whose strength and kindness is always truly humbling.

Emma added: “While Reminiscence Learning will always be very close to my heart, I am now really excited to be embarking on a new chapter. I am joining Ferne Animal Sanctuary as their community fundraiser and am delighted to have found an opportunity that enables me to combine all the skills that I have developed, with a passion that I have had since childhood for animals. I once heard a motivational speaker talk about doing something that would make your child-self happy and in this new role, that is exactly what I have!”

Emma will officially be leaving on Thursday, March 5.
