A LARGE-scale emergency services response was seen in Wellington town centre as darkness fell on Wednesday evening following a 999 call when a man apparently tripped and was injured near a bus stop outside the Royal Mail sorting office.
The incident in High Street was attended by two double-crewed South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) land ambulances, a paramedic first responder vehicle, and an unmarked ambulance operations officer car, as well as an Avon and Somerset Police car.
The man was stretchered into one of the ambulances and taken to the accident and emergency services department in Musgrove Park Hospital, Taunton.
A SWASFT spokesperson said: “We were called at 5.31 pm on Wednesday to an incident in Wellington.
“We sent a first responder, two double-crewed land ambulances, and an operations officer.
“We conveyed one patient to Musgrove Park Hospital.”
The man’s injuries and his condition were not disclosed.
