THE 14th annual model railway exhibition run by the Culm Valley Model Railway Club will take place on Saturday, September 21 at Willand Village Hall (EX15 2PL), from 10am to 4pm.

There will be 16 layouts on display representing a range of scales, styles and eras.

There will be continental as well as British steam and diesel, also trams, and on show in the larger gauges, real steam locos.

As usual, children will be able to drive the blue engine and his friends at the event.

“Soldor” allows two children at a time to drive Thomas and friends with push buttons for the youngest to drive Toby into and out of tunnels.

The Shunting Puzzle gets the grey matter working as visitors try their hand manoeuvring wagons into the correct order.

Most layouts won’t have been seen in Mid-Devon before, some coming from as far afield as the Home Counties, so there will be a wide variety of entertainment for the ardent modeller as well as the casual viewer or family group.

Additionally, there will be two sales stands selling second hand model railway stock and books.

The “station buffet” will be serving a wide variety of refreshments including hot and cold drinks, cakes, sandwiches and bacon or sausage baps.

This event is very popular with locals and families as well as model rail enthusiasts so why not make it a date. Some visitors like to attend when it isn’t very busy, and the afternoons are usually quieter.

Parking is free and there is wheelchair access to most of the hall (the stage being the exception). Admission is £6 for adults and £1 for children.

Further details can be found on the club website: www.cvmrc.weebly.com , where you can also find more information about the Culm Valley Model Railway Club.

The club look forward to seeing you on what promises to be a busy and fun day.
