THE annual meeting of Wellington Local History and Museum Society will be held in Wellington Prep School Hall on Thursday at 7.30 pm.

The meeting will be followed by a talk by Sue Goodland of Wessex Water, on what happens to waste water once it has gone down the plughole.

Sue describes it as a ‘wonderful and fascinating’ world.

The society is in need of new committee members as well as more stewards to keep the museum in Fore Street open from Easter to October, where about 2,000 visitors are welcomed annually.

Anybody interested in helping to preserve, display, and promote Wellington’s history and heritage is asked to go along to the annual meeting and volunteer.

It particularly needs an assistant to help the society treasurer keep track of the society’s finances and also somebody to help maintain and update the museum’s 5,000-line computer catalogue of its collection.

The activities take just a few hours a week but are essential in keeping the museum open and effective.

Entry to the meeting is free, although donations in aid of the society will be accepted.
