DOUBLE amputee Robin Greenfield will be taking part in a fund-raising skydive and wing walk next week in aid of the two charities which have supported him during difficult times.
The funds Robin raises will be shared with Mind in Somerset and the Limbless Association.
Robin said: “Since losing both of my legs in recent years, life as I know it has changed dramatically.
“Not only did I have to learn to walk again but I also had to move house to an area I did not know.
“To say this was a stressful time is an understatement, but I managed the ups and downs with the help and support of the Limbless Association and Mind in Somerset.
“I have volunteered for both charities and my plan, weather permitting, is to complete a skydive and a wing walk during volunteers week.”
Robin, who lost his right leg in 2019 and his left leg in 2020, plans to carry out his skydive and wing walk at Dunkeswell Airfield on Sunday, June 4, which is the start of Volunteers Week.
He said: “I volunteer for both charities and after doing my bit in a triathlon last year decided to do something most able bodied people would shake their heads at, let alone a bi-lateral below-knee amputee.”
Mind in Somerset funding Manager Victoria Poole said: “Robin has been a fantastic volunteer and a great ambassador for us.
“Poor mental health can affect anybody at any time, but thanks to wonderful fund-raisers like Robin, we can continue to support people in the local community who desperately need our help.”
