A DOG has been reunited with its owner with the help of a band of volunteers after going missing near the A38 for three days.
Sara, a Romanian rescue cross breed, was lost near the Perry Elm Roundabout when she slipped her harness on Thursday, October 10.
After posting on Facebook, Sara’s owner was contacted by the dog “database”, Dog Lost Somerset, which deployed a number of volunteers with equipment, as well as issuing a photo and leaflets throughout the community.
Sara’s owner, who wishes to remain anonymous, said: “I was very worried about her safety being so close to the A38 road.
“She slipped her harness on Thursday Night near our home address and ran off and was missing until 4.30pm on Sunday afternoon.
“She’s a nervous dog - I had a few sleepless nights.
“I’m so pleased we managed to find her and it’s thanks to Dog Lost. I don’t believe we would’ve found her without their support.”
Sara lives with her companion dog Misty, who helped their owner in the search.
The owner said that members of the community were a huge help, sharing the missing information online and promptly contacting them with any sightings.
Upon being rescued, Sara underwent a dog first aid check with the trained Dog Lost volunteers.
“She’s definitely lost some weight but she’s settling back in ok,” said her owner.
“I’m just so grateful for the volunteers at Dog Lost.
“It’s quite fantastic how the community came together.”
