WELLINGTON Rotary Club has donated a generous £200 to Court Fields School to help provide an immersive science experience for students.
School staff say they are delighted to receive the donation from Mr R G Williams on behalf of the Wellington group on Tuesday, February 25.
The £200 cheque was gratefully accepted by headteacher Polly Matthews, with the money going towards a pre-med anatomy day on Friday, March 21.
This event, which is led by human anatomists, will offer a day long immersive educational experience for Court Fields’ students.
The sessions are built to match all of the main exam specifications, backed by 20 years of teaching experience, and offer an academically rich hands-on approach to learning how the human body works.
A representative for Court Fields School said: “Without the support of the Wellington Rotary Club, the event would not have been possible.
“We would also like to extend our gratitude to Somerset Council Social Value Fund, who have also donated towards this event.
“Our students are excited for the day and cannot wait to experience, hands on, the dissections and understanding of the Human anatomy.”
The Rotary Club also showed their support for the school's debate club, donating book tokens that were awarded to members of both the senior and junior groups who participated in the recent Rotary Youth Speaks competition.
The senior team members, Olivia D, Oliver B, and Mille H, along with the junior team members, Gemma H, Caleb M, and Oscar G, were all recipients of the book tokens.
Mrs Bulmer, who runs the debate club, expressed her gratitude, saying: "We are incredibly grateful to the Wellington Rotary Club for their generous support.
“These book tokens are a wonderful recognition of our students' hard work and dedication. They will inspire our debaters to continue honing their skills and striving for excellence."
