A LARGE planter near Kamyko hairdressers in Wellington town centre is to be moved to a sunnier spot.

Members of Wellington Town Council’s environment committee agreed on April 22 to spend £400 on hiring machinery to help move the heavy planter – which weighs more than two tonnes – to the sunny side of the High Street near Staggs estate agents.

The council’s open spaces manager, Darren Hill, said: “Kamyko would love to see the planter remain where it is, but they understand why it needs to be moved.”

Mr Hill said moving the heavy planter to a sunnier spot would allow whatever was planted in it a better chance of doing well and surviving.
