Dozens of events are taking place in and around Wellington this Bank Holiday weekend to celebrate the King's coronation.

Wellington park will host a special red white and blue spring fayre on Sunday, May 7. The family friendly event will see dozens of local stallholders set up in the park, where they will be joined by entertainment from the bandstand.

An inflatable assault course will be up and running at the Rugby Club from 1.30pm on Sunday, where local sporting groups will be inviting the public to join in with activities.

The club will hold a fireworks display at the later time of 9.30pm - which, as with the other events - is free to attend.

Wellington Town Council are hosting a coronation inspired art competition for children. The competition is open to children aged between 7 and 16 years old, who are encouraged to submit their royal themed art before May 19.

The winner will be awarded a certificate by the town's mayor. Entries can be submitted for consideration by email to the council by email.

Residents living at the Jurston Fields housing development will be holding their own 'street party', which will be held on the green on Saturday.

Parishes around the Wellington area will be joining in with the celebrations, with St John's Church in Ashbrittle set to see the new king in with the ringing of church bells on Saturday morning.

A beacon lighting ceremony will be held just before dusk at Hellings Farm in Bathealton, to which all are invited to attend.

At 10am on Sunday St Michael's Church in Stawley will hold a special coronation service, where the village choir will be performing.

Bathealton Village Hall is holding its 'Big Lunch' event at noon on Sunday, which promises 'bottomless Pimms' for local residents.

The Milverton Methodist Chapel is inviting residents to come along for a free jacket potato lunch at noon on Monday, May 8, where revellers will also be treated to soft drinks and cakes.

A party is being held on the village green in Sampford Arundel at 2.30pm on Monday, where a Rowan tree will be planted to mark the occasion.

The Globe Inn at Appley is holding a coronation garden party on the Sunday, where traditional afternoon tea will be served up.

Local businesses are putting on a range of royal offers. Tim Potter's family butcher shop on Fore Street is selling a BBQ pack which is 'fit for a king' and the Sticky Toffee Patisserie are delivering afternoon tea takeaways.

Children across Wellington will be gifted special coronation coins as mementos of the historic occasion.
