MILVERTON Conservation Volunteer Group has spent another weekend clearing and cutting as part of their work to promote biodiversity in the area.

Last Saturday (February 22), the group spent the afternoon developing the entrance to a Milverton herb farm, Organic Herb Trading Co, one of several projects that Milverton Conservation Volunteer Group (MCVC) continuously work on, to protect and preserve local biodiversity.

In the case of the herb farm, the work of local volunteers prevents the area from being overtaken by scrub with the removal of dead vegetation, which helps other self-seeded plants thrive.

Established in 2013, MCVC encourages people and communities to be active in the conservation management of their local environment.

Led by local residents Trevor Phelps and EuCAN Director, Gwil Wren the group is providing training and practical experience for local volunteers and other groups in nature conservation and sustainable land management.
