Enthusiasts gathered for the 2024 Steam and Vintage rally at Norton and Fitzwarren.

The WSRA Steam and Vintage Rally is organised by a group of committed volunteers. The main goal of the rally is to raise money for the West Somerset Railway Association (WSRA), a charity that supports the West Somerset Railway.

The event featured working traction engines, tractors, and road rollers, alongside vintage cars, motorcycles, fire engines, buses, military and commercial vehicles, as well as vintage agricultural vehicles and tractors.

Stationary engines were on display, and there were parades of vehicles in the ring and around the site, with demonstrations of steam engines and tractors at work.

The steam and vintage show received great feedback in 2023, with one participant saying: “Brilliant day and amazing event. The ground was very good and the odd rain shower wasn’t and issue.”

Attendees enjoyed brake van rides on the Barnstaple line, a beer tent and refreshments, family fun, children’s entertainments, and model train rides, along with artisan food and drinks, crafts, and models.

The Rally also aims to spark and grow interest in steam and vintage transport, while making sure everyone in the community and supporters of the West Somerset Railway have a great day out.

The rally is a lot of fun, whether you join as an exhibitor, volunteer to help, or just come for a good day out. There is plenty for all of the family to get involved with.
