Somerset Council has announced changes to waste and recycling collection over the Bank Holiday Weekend.

Crews are set to make waste collections a day later than usual during the week beginning Monday, May 29.

The council has asked residents to ensure they present their bin bags and boxed before 7am on the relevant collection date.

They warned that postponing collections by a day would mean higher volumes of waste. They advised squashing, crushing and flattening waste to make the most of waste containers.

All 16 recycling centres across Somerset will remain open over the weekend, from 9am until 4am. They will also open on Bank Holiday Monday where Monday openings are part of their ordinary opening hours.
