CELEBRITY chef Jean-Christophe Novelli is set to sprinkle some stardust on the tenth annual Wellington Food Festival staged in the town on Saturday.

He will cut the ribbon to open the event, which is expected to attract up to 14,000 people and feature more than 60 stalls in High Street and South Street.

Mr Novelli, who once ran the Maltster’s Arms restaurant in Totnes, Devon, for Wellington School old boy, celebrity cook and restaurateur Keith Floyd, will give cooking demonstrations In the Scout Hut in Fore Street and sign books at the Conservative Club in High Street between demonstrations.

“This is only the second time we have had a major celebrity chef,” said Richard Coupe, who has been involved in the event since it started. “Lesley Waters did it one year and it was very popular.”
