IS there anyone wanting to buy an unwanted former telephone box?

If so, Sampford Arundel Parish Council has got one for sale and would like to hear from you.

The Mayor of Wellington, Cllr Janet Lloyd, who is also chairman of Sampford Arundel Parish Council, spoke at Wellington Town Council’s economic development on November 13 and gave councillors a bit of a sales pitch.

“We’ve got an old telephone box in SampfordArundel going up for sale,” she said. “It’s not in a good condition, but we saw one on eBay recently at £3,200.

“I thought I would mention it at this committee just in case you might be interested in buying it?”

Cllr Lloyd added: “The phone box we are looking to sell is behind a hedge and nobody sees it.”

Cllr Keith Wheatley, noting that it weighed 750kgs, quipped: “Has Cllr Lloyd brought the phone box with her? We can’t buy something without seeing it.”
