A BUCKET of water came in handy for firefighters when they were called to a tractor which had caught alight on the Blackdown Hills,
Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue’s control centre was alerted to the incident in Bishopswood shortly before 9 am today.
Two fire engines were despatched from Chard, and also a water bowser from Yeovil, but the first crew to reach the scene was able to stand down the others as they were not needed.
They investigated the tractor for signs of fire and discovered a small blaze in the vehicle’s dashboard, which was put out by throwing the bucket of water over it.
A thermal imaging camera and some small tools were also used during the incident, which was logged as ‘accidental’.
