A BRIGHT mural has been painted for Wellington business A House of Cake to make its teaching space ‘a deliciously pink destination’.

Local artist Alex Williams, who offers bespoke murals, created the work after being approached by House of Cake owner Lesley Retallack, who opened her cake making and training shop in High Street just over a year ago.

Ms Williams and her family have been frequent customers of the shop, which is close to their town centre home.

Ms Retallack said: “When we found out Alex designs and paints murals we knew it would be the perfect solution to our previously blank teaching space.

“We met with Alex several times and she designed a mural that suits A House of Cake so perfectly and really makes our teaching space a special place to hold both our children’s and adults’ baking workshops.”

Ms Williams, who is a trained artist and teacher and is also a member of Wellington Community Centre’s management committee, said: “I love working with clients to design something really personal to them.

“My style is very illustrative and I loved drawing lot of different baking bits and pieces for Lesley and Chris.

“It is much more in keeping now with the amazing cakes Lesley creates.”

Ms Williams is also planning a programme of young people’s printmaking workshops to run in Wellington in the summer holidays.
