WELLINGTON Town Council's open spaces manager Darren Hill is not afraid of getting his hands dirty or his feet wet - that is official!
The Green Corridor fields were recently mowed and the cut grass from Fox's Field was baled.
But a council spokesman, speaking on the authority's social media page, said: "Unfortunately some mischief happened on Thursday (August 15) and three of the bales were rolled into the river.
"Fortunately, open spaces manager Darren Hill is not afraid to get his hands dirty or his feet wet."
Mr Hill met the farmer who cut the fields, Justin Perry-Jones, on Monday (August 19) and they got to work on hoisting the bales out of the river.
The soaked hay was spread around the field boundary to give some nutrients back, while it would look at a different approach to cutting the grass next year to avoid any further watery mishaps.
