FORMER Wellington School student Aimee Hartley has launched a book about breathing techniques aimed at improving the well-being of adults and children.

Aimee, 45, lived in Wellington from the age of three and went to Wellesley Park Primary School. Her parents still live in the town and she regularly visits them with her children.

She said: “I left Wellington when I was 25 years old to travel and work in London but have returned to both live and visit over the years. I’m now based in the Wye Valley where I have a Breathing Room where I see clients. We are in Wellington – seeking refuge from the floods and to see my brother and sister and my parents, who all still live and work here.

“The book ‘Breathe Well’ was launched a couple of weeks ago and is aimed at adults of all ages and there is also a section on my School Breathe programme which launches nationwide in a couple of weeks (more information at www.schoolbreathe.com).

“It’s my aim and passion to introduce the benefits and practice of breathwork to schoolchildren and teachers to help them navigate their way through the education system and ultimately through life.

“The book is divided into sections of how we spend our lives, in breaths...so there are breathing techniques to help us sleep, to help us de-stress at work, travel with more energy, learn to be calmer in relationships and boost our natural energy while exercising. The book is for all ages and I’m hoping it will reach those who are seeking ways to improve their well-being.

“Our entire family have been avid readers of the Wellington Weekly for years. The last time I appeared in the paper was about 35 years ago, when I was a brownie and we visited Popham nursing home.”
