WORK by archaeologists over recent decades has revealed much about the history of the Blackdown Hills, which stretch from Wellington to the south coast.
Bill Horner, historic environment manager and county archaeologist for Devon County Council, is giving a talk on how archaeologists, amateur and professional, have used digs, aerial surveys and research in record centres to increase their understanding of how the industry, settlement and landscape of the Blackdowns has developed from pre-history to the present day.
The talk is on Thursday, February 27, at 7.30pm in the Alan Rogers Centre, beside Wellington School’s Sports Centre, off the Bulford mini-roundabout in South Street.
The talk is organised by and in aid of Wellington Local History & Museum Society. Entry is £4 or £3 for society members.
