A DELAY has been announced to major resurfacing works in Wellington which are set to begin this month.

Mantle Street through to Exeter Road is scheduled to be fully resurfaced as part of a maintenance scheme.

Somerset Councillor Mike Rigby said the works were needed because the roadway was "showing significant signs of deterioration."

The second phase of the works was set to begin on Thursday, August 17 - but has now been pushed back to Friday, August 18.

As a result the works will end a day later, on Thursday August 24 at 6 pm.
