Paul Desborough knocked 58 for All Stars, but with Mowers in fine form, they could only manage to win 2 hands. Mowers picked up the 2 bonus points on offer with the highest team score to see them joint top of the Group in the first week. Scores: Mowers 401 (4 hands), All Starts 371(2 hands).

Ex-Servicemen 375 (2 hands), United Services 395 (4 hands). The downstairs alley of the Victoria Arms saw Ex-Servicemen and United Services get their Ken Bright Cup campaigns underway, with United Services going big to take 4 Hands and the Bonus Points on offer in the process, with G. Smith’s 60 the highlight for United Services. The X-Men saw A. Perry hit 62 as they took 2 hands. With the scoring format in this competition being what it is, X-Men will still be confident on a strong campaign.
