TWO more concerts have been announced as part of Wiveliscombe’s Silver Street Sessions which will be held next month.

On Saturday, May 11, Cider with Kirsty (instumental duo The Ciderhouse Rebellion, plus singer Kirsty Merryn) will be appearing at Wiveliscombe Community Centre.

Between stories of wreckers and smugglers, midwives and hedge-witches, snake-catchers and nightmen, the new project Cider With Kirsty reveal the hidden lives that were the historic heartbeat of the country.

Originally meeting through folk legends Show Of Hands, The Ciderhouse Rebellion found that their create seascapes and laments, prayers and evocations danced perfectly with Merryn’s poignant and angelic vocals. Doors open at 7.30pm and the concert starts at 8pm. Tickets cost £19 or £17 for concessions which are available from Wiveliscombe Post Office. Otherwise, they can be booked through https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/the-silver-street-sessions.

And then on Tuesday, May 14, Peter Knight's Gigspanner Trio will be playing at St. Andrew's Church, Wiveliscombe.

Described by Folk Radio UK as one of the “most quietly brilliant sets of musicians in the folk world and beyond”, the trio takes self-penned material along with music rooted in the British Isles and beyond, and with the flick of a bow, a finely chosen chord or slip of a beat, produce richly atmospheric arrangements with notes seemingly plucked from the stars and rhythms from the equator”, according to Spiral Earth.

Peter Knight is not short of plaudits, with Northern Sky stating "there’s something of the proverbial elder statesman about Peter Knight, in terms of his place in music, which cannot be overstated. It’s not just in the quality of his playing.”

Doors for this event open at 7.30pm and the concert starts at 8pm. Tickets cost £22 or £20 for concessions and are available from Wiveliscombe Post Office or can be booked through https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/the-silver-street-sessions
