SOMERSET Council is hosting a drop-in event for 16 Days of Action Against Gender-Based Violence.

Somerset Council’s domestic abuse service, facilitated by the You Trust, is proud to support the annual 16 Days of Action Against Gender-Based Violence, an international campaign running from November 25 (International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women) to December 10 (Human Rights Day).

As part of this campaign, the council is hosting two open-day drop-in events to raise awareness about violence against women and girls, provide support, and create a safe space for those affected by domestic abuse.

A spokesperson for Somerset Council said: “These drop-in events are a vital part of our commitment to raising awareness of gender-based violence and providing support to those in need. We want to create a safe, welcoming environment where people can share their experiences, find support, and connect with others who understand

“By taking part in the 16 Days of Action, we hope to empower individuals and communities to challenge and prevent domestic abuse.”

People are invited along for coffee, cake, and crafting. Anybody who has experienced, is currently experiencing, or may have concerns about domestic abuse is invited to these informal, welcoming events. Enjoy coffee, cake, and a crafting session while connecting with others in a supportive environment.

An event will be held at Abbey Manor Business Centre, The Abbey, Preston Road, Yeovil, from 10am until 2pm on November 25, and Apsley House, Tower Street, Taunton, from 11.30am until 1pm on December 10.
